About Citrine

Citrine got its name because of the lemon color. It is lemon yellow like a real citrus.

Citrine belongs to the mineral class of Quartz. The color of citrine depends on the iron traces in the quartz and can be from pale yellow to bright shades of amber. Citrine gemstone often adorned the attributes of grandees — crowns, diadems, necklaces, bracelets. Despite the popularity in high society, few people knew the real name of the mineral. Before the advent of modern gemology, its yellowish-brown color was mistaken for topaz. But in 1747, the chemist Valerius discovered that the gem has nothing in common with the topaz. He classified the mineral as a separate species and gave it a name “Citrine”.

Citrine comes from the highlands of Scotland, the flamenco places of Spain, the tropics of Madagascar, the rich and royal lands of Russia and the lush green rainforests of Brazil.

Although the bright juicy color of citrine is associated with mild summer days, it is actually a stone for the autumn month November. Just imagine the winter is coming and we are dreaming about bright sunshine with the onset of dark cold evenings. And despite the fact that Citrine is associated with November birthstone, Aries, Leo and Libra fall in love with Citrine's sunny personality.
